So with less than a month to The Baby Show at the Excel at the end of Feb, I thought I would look back at the fun we had at Earls Court back at the end of last year, I am excited as this show we will not only be buying for a new baby, but we should also know the sex by then.
The show at Earls Court was quieter than other years (due to half term I would imagine), but this didn’t bother us as it just made shopping easier. The first thing we did was head to the Tommee Tippee feeding area, which as usual was very well equipped, with Stokke Tripp Trapps, microwaves to heat food and even Plum Organic Sachets, which Grayson enjoyed very much. (Actually I lie the 1st thing we had to do was buy Grayson a cup as we had left his at home, thank god we were at The Baby Show), we then made use of another well equipped free amenity, nappy changing.
It was then time to shop, shop, shop. We had come with no list like most years, we had no intentions of actually making many purchases, it was more about learning about new products and meeting up with some other great bloggers.
There were so many amazing companies and I can’t name them all, but I shall discuss just a few that really stood out from the rest.
1st Stokke – I had been very excited (as I have been the past few years) to head to their stand, this time with my own Xplory. I got a chance to have a good look at all the products, I again drooled over the Sleepi and made Ash promise I could have it when baby sweetpea. I also got to have a good look at the new pushchairs Crusi and Scoot. At the time the 2 new connection strollers which had been released.
They were also hugely impressed on the Stokke Stand at how we had managed to hook up the iPad for Grayson to watch on the Xplory on his way round the show.
Opposite Stokke was the beautiful and talented Chet of Mamami, her changing bags are seriously the best on the market and coveted by many, I was lucky enough to meet Chet at Cybher earlier in 2012, where she offered me the chance to review one of her gorgeous bags (review to follow) so I had to head over and say a Huge thanks and show her my Shiny Shivali. Her stand looked wonderful and I am thinking I am in need of the Black version to mine. Chet ha also just released the fantastic news that her bags are now available in John Lewis, so huge congrats.
I was instantly attracted to the stand of Poco Nido, they had a Tee that was perfect for Addy, as she is a lover of anything kitsch and anything with birdies, she loves them, we are constantly saying “Tweet, Tweet” the ladies were really knowledgable of their products and kindly offered a free Tee with every purchase, so Grayson managed to get a lovely Medal T-Shirt too, I can’t wait to make some more purchases from them, they have some awesome little wellies, go take a look.
Mr Innocent Charmer, spent nearly 15 minutes watching a demo of the iBaby Monitor, after him promising me the Stokke Sleepi for Baby Sweetpea, I had to promise for this monitor, the iBaby stand is just another reason that The Baby Show is a must have for new parents, Mum and Dad alike, Ash loved finding out about a new gadget and to top it off they were offering over £75 discount.
We headed to Fisher Price and met up with the new PR lady, introduced ourselves as we have worked with them several times in the past, we got shown around the stall and also checked out some fab new toys, one in particular I have my eye on for the bubba’s, it’s great as you really get to play with the toys and check out whether they will suit, we also very kindly came out with a couple of new toys for the bubba’s to review (watch this space).
Obviously The Baby Show has great facilities for a day out with the little ones, there is even a crèche available, not only is it fab to meet up with companies we have had the pleasure of buying or working with before, but it also gave me a chance to look at products in the flesh that I have considered online but never been convinced by, the lovely people of Baba Me, who make Bum Genius nappies, where excellent, they spent over 20 minutes showing me their products, not with a hard sell, they never bad mouthed another brand and just showed me what they had to offer, they then spent a further 5 minutes discussing Grayson’s needs with me and even resourced a couple of companies for me to contact who maybe able to make custom nappies for him. Truly great customer appreciation, I shall be heading to see them again at Excel as we are seriously considering Re-Usables with Baby Sweetpea.
Mr Innocent Charmer is still not convinced on the re usable nappy front, but after speaking to a couple of companies on the day I am more intrigued and very much wanting to give them a try.
So all in all as many years before, we had a fab day at The Baby Show, I loved the fact they made the aisles wider this year so it was easier to get around too, I seriously believe it is the one place all parents to be, or parents of babies and toddlers should visit, you could not ask for any more, there is so much choice, wonderful people with a wealth of knowledge and if lucky like me you finally get to meet some amazing bloggers who I would actually call friends, basically like a lovely giant coffee morning, it was amazing to finally introduce Grayson to the wonderful Sian and Claire in the press office, they both were so accommodating to Grayson’s needs, also to see the gorgeous boys in real life of the awesome, kind and caring Emma of Me, The Man and The Baby, as well as too many others to mention.
We already have plans to hopefully meet up with some other Bloggers at The Baby Show,Excel. So I am sure you can see why I am excited to be visiting again, I love the Excel as a location too, easier for us to get to than Excel and with great parking facilities.
So do let me know if you are coming, I would love to meet up with more friends. Now to start making a shopping list.
