Review & Giveaway of a Calafant Palace

We are very honored this month to be asked to be an additional Asobi Ambassador, each month there are a team of 4 bloggers who review toys on behalf of Asobi (details at bottom of post) this month we are all showing you the wonders of Calafant.

Calafant describe themselves as “A Cardboard Land of Fantasies” how perfect does this sound and they are literally that, with over 30 projects from Dinosaurs to Race Cars to Princess Castles there is something for every child’s imagination and capabilities.

Addison is currently My Little Pony obsessed, she had been asking for the dreadful plastic pony castle for weeks (which there was no way I was spending £40 on) so when I saw the Calafant Palace I knew this was the project for us.

I was really impressed with how great the design was, Addison being 3 is still too little to build this on her own so Mummy (and a little help from Daddo) made the task a breeze, it simply slots together using a fold and slot system no gluing or sticking necessary which I was impressed with, Addison even took to the task when directed. The only thing I sometimes found a little hard was distinguishing which piece was which, so I would have loved Calafant to put the corresponding letters somewhere on the pieces, but this is just cause I am a tired Mummy.

The palace was built in less than 15 minutes, great when you have an excited 3 year old sitting next to you, once built Addison had to show her Ponies their new home, she was just so excited. We then set about designing and painting.

It is literally a case of letting your imagination go wild, you could use everything from Crayons, paints, stickers to fabric to design your Calafant project, Addison is LOVING painting at the moment so we decided on that, I picked up some cheap glitter paints for less than £1 at the Supermarket so the project doesn’t have to cost much.

I decided (as much as my inner artist wanted to) to let Addison paint and design completely herself, as that is what Calafant is about “Imaginative Play” – she loved trying all the different colours, demanding where I painted and using different types of paint brushes.

The great thing about the project is you could easily just leave your child to it or complete as a whole family, Addison insisted Daddo even have a go at painting, it is the perfect rainy day activity that I honestly think all 3 of my kids could get involved in, even in my 30’s I would love to do one all by myself (ssh).

The Palace took us about 30/40 minutes to paint, I think we could have spent all afternoon but Addy was getting impatient and wanted her Ponies to live in it.

We added some stickers and a little bit of drawing to ours, I drew a stone wall like on a real castle and Addison did some polkadots and rainbows (she is rainbow crazy).

Once all dry, as you will see in the video it was the perfect Palace for her Ponies, I have been told to share “Twilight Sparkle loves her tower Mummy”.

Addison has been non stop playing with the castle for the past 2 weeks, it has brought hours of fun even after the actual painting, every grandparent has had to play with it too.

We shall definitely be investing in another for Addison for Christmas as it is the perfect project for now the rain has come, I am thinking the Dinosaur as she loves them, but I have also taken quite a fancy to the huge playhouse (although no idea where we would put it.)

The lovely people at Kind Toys, who support the Asobi Ambassador program are kindly offering 20% of all Calafant items through September using the code “CALAFANT” – I shall be ordering ours ready for Xmas with a bargain like that.

As well as that generous deal though I also have a Calafant Palace just like Addison’s for one of my lucky readers to win below. Please do check the T&C’s. UK Residents over 18 only.
