What To Do On A Sunday ?

We have decided unless there is planned events to make our Sunday’s a family day. We try to think of different things to do that work for our whole family and don’t cost the earth.

Now with 2 of the kids at school weekends feel so precious, it feels like we should be making memories, the other weekend I shared our new love of Woodland Adventures, last weekend as we were all very tired we had a family day at home, playing games together, crafting, cooking it was just what we needed.

But this Sunday we woke up and knew we had to get out and enjoy the fact that although a little cold it was not raining.

I had wanted to head to a local farm to go Apple picking for a while, so that is what we did, we put on our hats and wellies and picked the last of the seasons apples, the kids loved running through the trees and choosing juicy apples of their own. PYO farms are all over the country, I simply googled for our closest (Felderland Farm). I wish we had gone last month as we would have been able to get Raspberries and Strawberries to so next year we shall go in September for sure.

Days Out In Kent

We left with a basket of Apples, costing less than £2 too and a few other goodies from the farmshop.

Days Out in Kent

We were all having so much fun that we did not want to go home so we headed off in search of Ducks, we picked up a loaf on the way and drove to the beautiful town of Sandwich, we fed the ducks in the sun for such a while, giggling and chatting, we left some Ducks with full bellies, as we were just about to head to the car we spotted a lovely quiet little park and could not resist.

Park Fun

All in all it was really a perfect day, we headed home to dinner in the slow cooker making the house smell delicious and we jumped in a bubble bath to warm up and get the mud off.

I would love to hear suggestions of other Sunday family activities you could suggest for us to do ???

That literally sounds like the most perfect Sunday! I haven’t been to a PYO since I was a child – definitely on my to do list now! 🙂 I love hearing all about your #WonderfulWeekends thanks so much for linking up! xxx

Growing up Sunday was out family day too. We’d go for walks in forests, pick wild blackberries, go to a market or museum or just go and watch the world go by. They were the best days and it sounds like you have the same thing for your children – they are the days your children will always remember. For me the hardest thing about Hubby working shifts is not being able to have a day each week as a family now A is at school but we do manage to grab a few hours here and there where we can x

Now this sounds like my perfect sort of Sunday. It is our family day too, between the morning feed run and afternoon train rides that is. It is so great to take some time out as a family and I love it when the day is extended with a few impromptu stops too. Lovely looking apples and a bargain too! Thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.

I love spur of the moment days at the weekend and agree that some days you wake up and just know the day shouldn’t be wanted indoors. I spent a few hours with hubby in a local country houses grounds on a sunny weekend earlier in the month and felt so refreshed and happy after our little trip out. Thanks for linking up, its these kind of days that certainly do make #WonderfulWeekends x

  • Awww what a perfect Sunday!!! I love going to farms and picking our own. There is something so magical about choosing your own fruit and I swear it always tastes so much better. You must go back in strawberry season though. It’s a lot of fun! It looks like such a beautiful place and really lovely that you get some much needed family time. I can’t get over how well priced the apples were! What a brilliant place! Thank you so, so much for linking to #whatevertheweather xx

I love picking your own, I never thought to do it in the autumn, we always do it in May/June for the strawberries. We try to keep one day at the weekend for family day too, and we get out and about a lot. We haven’t been to Kent though, so I do not have any suggestions I am afraid. I would love to know what is good to do in Kent with a 4 year old though, as Kent is on our list.

That definitely sounds like my kind of Sunday! Fantastic that you found a PYO orchard nearby, apples are a fantastic food to forage, hope you manage to go strawberry and raspberry picking next year too. Feeding the ducks is a favourite of ours too, the kids love throwing the food and watching the ducks rush for it! You are making such lovely memories with your children, they will always look forward to their special family Sunday’s.
Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x
