Upcycling From Mrs Emily Clark

So Emily is supposed to be back here on the 10th of next month but as she calls herself The Crazy Upcycling Lady has been busy again this week and we both wanted to share her project with you.

I personally want it for myself, I can not wait to get over the busyness of the next couple of months and start upcycling some projects I have sitting around.

So over to Emily….

Mr Clark asks me if I am going to paint everything. The answer is quite possibly yes!

It started with a dresser and I have been hooked ever since. To find a bargain and transform it with a lick of paint is very satisfying and ever so slightly addictive!

My latest bargain was this rocking chair. We needed another seat in the conservatory but I was unsure what we should get.. I loved the thought of a rocking chair but have never seen one I could upcycle. Until one day I happened to look on Gumtree and found one just down the road from us and for Β£15! I had to have it!

Rocking Chair Upcycle

I have upcycled before and used Little Greene paint. I love it. It’s so easy to apply. I usually give the furniture a quick sand over and then 2 coats of paint.
I have used the colour French Grey before and adore it so decided to stick with it for the rocking chair. I didn’t want it all grey though so added colour to some of the spindles.
Tester pots are a fantastic way to do this. Just a small cost and enough paint to add a different colour to something. I had a tester pot of Little Greene Custard, a gorgeous pale yellow. I always apply a quick coat of Annie Sloan Clear Soft Wax just to protect it and make sure it stays looking lovely ( just rub on using an old cloth).

And ta-da!! Done. I am so happy with it, such a transformation. The question is….. What to paint now?!

Upcycling Furniture

Thank you for reading and happy painting to anyone I have inspired to upcycle.

I saw the rocking chair in the thumbnail adn had to click on the link. My first ever upcycle, 22 years ago, was a rocking chair I rescued from being thrown out. This transformation is lovely – the finished chair is lovely and bright.
