Days Out // Woodland Adventure

In the Summer I spoke of a wonderful Summer Holiday Activity, a day in the woods. But I thought I would share how much of an Adventure to the Woodland is also come Autumn.

Woodland Walk

Last weekend we headed to a local Woodland called West Blean & Thornden about a 15 minute drive from our house. I just typed into Google that morning local wheelchair, kid friendly woods and it came up. I used to go there when I was little but so much has changed, they now have great smooth paths for Grayson and a Sensory trail for us all to enjoy.

The great thing about the woods, is with the changing seasons there are so many new things to see but still with the same basic underlying greatness of a sense of freedom, enjoyment and all for free.

We followed the trail which has Totem polls, carved animals, natural musical instruments, tipees and so much more, but in between all those amazing extra attractions, we talked about the leaves, collected acorns, listened to the birds, jumped in puddles, played hide and seek and had fun as a family.

Day In The Woods

I could go on all day explaining why I think we have found our perfect day out as a family in Woodland Adventures, I by no means am an outdoorsy person but I have not smiled so hard in weeks as I did last Saturday. The kids enjoyed it so much, even our Superhero, who smiled so much at watching his siblings, walking and enjoying a nice rest on a log.

Watch this little video to see more, nothing fancy just me collecting some memories to have for the kids.

The fun didn’t stop at the woods though, when we got home to warm our toes and have a Hot Chocolate we did Autumnal crafts with our basket of treasures.

The kids loved Leaf Rubbing something they had never done before, we then went on to make a leaf wreath which we are going to hang up for October as we love Autumn in our house.

Autumn Crafts

We have a little Pinterest board with more crafts we want to try over the Autumn period, but do you have any fun suggestions ?

So do go online and check out the woods near you, I don’t think you will be disappointed it is a wonderful family activity.
