I think we all have a piece of furniture we up-cycle and it starts us off, for many it becomes a little of an addiction and Emily is going to show us this month what started hers, I can see why I love the piece but I will let her tell you more…..
Where the painting bug started…
I had looked at dressers online. There are some gorgeous ones but they all have quite a large price tag and as we had just moved into the house it was definitely a NO.
Then I happened to see one on a local selling page. Having struggled to get it in the car (with a toddler too) and really struggled to get it out of car, I finally got it into the dining room. It was just perfect for the corner and at £25 definitely a bargain.
People had told me about Little Greene paint and so I decided to try. I chose French Grey, Tutu (limited edition), Custard and Cupboard Green. Once I set to it it didn’t take too long and afterwards I sealed it with Annie Sloan clear wax.
But what to put on the dresser? Over the months things have been placed, moved and re-arranged. I’m sure this will continue to happen too.
Top Shelf
Royal cups and saucers- I love the Royal family and my mum had these so I had to include them.
Second Shelf
I saw these glass jars on sale at the local garden. We had filled them with sweets which seem to have disappeared 😂. I had the tags made by Haley from Handcrafted Love (found on Instagram @handcraftedlove). I love them, they are just perfect on the jars and a personal touch.
Third Shelf
- Clipboard with an AA Milne quote on
- Fingerprint plate from Theo’s 8th birthday party
- Our summer holiday idea jar (picking a few ideas each week to do, from Pinterest)
- Rose tea light holder
- Silver thimble with pens and pencils from Red Candy
Fourth Shelf
- Tea set from Ashley Thomas at Debenhams
- Cake dilemma chart from Snappy Crocodile
- Milk bottle candle from Amazon
- Printed cream tea picture
I’m sure the dresser will constantly change and I will move things around but I do adore it. It’s perfect for our dining room and the cupboard underneath is great for storage too.
Since this I have painted a lot of things in the house – sorry Mr Clark 😘
Thanks for reading and hope you all have a wonderful August.
Emily xx
I love it, I am a huge Dresser/Shelves fan, Emily and I have some things which live in both our houses, Hayley’s tags are one of my favourite purchases.
