The lovely people at Daelmans Stroopwafels kindly sent me a little Hamper of their traditional Dutch caramel waffles. Even though I had seen these in the shops I had never had the pleasure of trying them.
Daelmans were looking for how you would create the perfect Stroopsmile coffee morning and I knew straight away how to make this happen, my Stepmum and her friends have kindly been looking after my little terror Deacon from time to time as we had so many hospital appointments, they love nothing better to sit and have a natter with coffee/tea and yummy treats so these were perfect.
As it is nearly Christmas we decided on a very treat orientated spread, well why not, yummy biscuits, cakes and pastries all accompanied the delicious waffles.
Some enjoyed them with Tea, some coffee, they loved watching the caramel go all gooey as it sat on their cups, Deacon the terror even loved munching on the Mini Stroopwafels whilst the ladies chatted, perfect toddler hand sized.
All of them commented on how delicious they are, I sent them all home with a couple to keep them going for their afternoon treat, I have to agree they are perfect for the after school run cuppa, I have eaten a few too many this week maybe.
Not only did I love creating a Stroopsmile as a thank you, my little family has been putting the rest to good use this week and they really are a Waffle for the whole family, the kids get to have a mini one after dinner, they have them like a little biscuit, but Addy also likes to dip them in my tea.
The hubby and I have also had them in our treat Hot Chocolates this past week, they somehow taste even better when they melt against the hot cocoa, I honestly think the ways you could use them are endless.
I have bought some more for the kiddos to have as treats over the Christmas holidays, Addison has said we must leave one out for Santa as he will like as much as a cookie and to be honest I happen to agree.
Daelmans StroopWafels are available at Tesc, Co-op and online, as the market leader I do think they are definitely the ones to buy, maybe pop a few in the stocking of someone you love, or make into a Xmas Coffee lovers giftset.
