Eating out as a family is something we try to do at least once a month, I think it is really important for the kids to try new foods and learn how to behave in a restaurant but more than that I think it is a great experience for all our family and I get out of cooking for the day.
So when we were asked to become part of the #PizzaExpressFamily along with an awesome group of bloggers we were over the moon. Over the next few weeks they shall be all treating you to reviews of their local Pizza Express restaurants and how they got on as well as on March 31st helping to host a great big Twitter Party from 2-3.30pm where there will be many prizes to win including a meal for four. So make sure you follow the Hashtag #PizzaExpressFamily.
So onto our thoughts of Pizza Express in Ashford.
The restaurant is not that old and done in usual Pizza Express style, which I do love personally, we were sat on a nice generous table with plenty of room for all of us along with Grayson having a place right at the table in his wheelchair, something a lot of restaurants do not achieve.
Whilst we got to look over their menu with some new dishes, the kids were thankfully given activity packs, with the holy grail – stickers, to keep them busy, it is the little things like this that make a HUGE difference with young kids.
We decided to go for 3 courses as we often do at Pizza Express as a trip can not go past without Dough Balls for me, I LOVE THEM – they also do a great child sized portion which comes with some little veggies too and Addison polished the whole thing off within minutes – her first try of Dough Balls was a huge success.
The Hubby tried the new Calamari Starter option and said he will definitely have it again, it was a huge portion for a starter which pleased him greatly.
The kids meals arrived in record time and before ours which always makes me happy as both boys still have help feeding. The portions were incredible for kids meals and would feed an adult for sure. Both the younger 2 had pasta as they are not pizza fans and Grayson had a Pizza as it is one of his favourites and all were well met.
This is really Yummy Mummy and orange smiley faces
The Hubby and I both decided to go for new Pizza’s on the menu, I was so excited to try the new Hawaiian Pizza as it is my favourite and Pizza Express has made it awesome – with a beautiful Pineapple Chutney on top with a slight heat from Chillies. It was incredible.
The Hubby went for the Calabrese which looked amazing with Rocket and Gran Milano cheese on top, the waiter kindly suggested he went for an Egg on top and Ashley was so pleased he agreed as he said finished the Pizza brilliantly.
The great thing about Pizza Express for me is that there is no waste, the Pizza’s are HUGE simply for 2 people but they provide boxes so everything was finished off the next day for lunch – let’s be honest left over Pizza is the best.
We had to finish off with something sweet as we are all dessert fans, the kids went for the Brownies from the Piccolo menu, that come with the cutest Bambinoccino, Addison in particular felt very special.
Ashley and I both went for new desserts and they were incredible, Ashley’s in particular honestly we would have taken a box of it home if we could, if you are ever at Pizza Express please do try the Honeycomb Cream Slice.
All in all I have no complaints about our meal, the staff were brilliant, the space for all of us including Grayson was plentiful and I love how Pizza Express really embrace families making sure not only that the kids are entertained but that their meals feel as special as the adults.
Next time I really want to try their Leggera Menu (low-calorie menu) as the Pizzas in this range looked amazing and yet are better for the waistline.
*We were compensated for our meal for purpose of this review, but we generally loved the whole evening.
