Upcycling // Painted Furniture

Many times I have spoken of my love of Painted Furniture on the blog, back in January I showed you a little table that I needed to redo (still hasn’t been done), another project which has been half done now for over 18 months is a G Plan side table.

As I scrolled through Instagram this week I came across the same little table on my lovely guest blogger Emily’s feed. She was in the process of upcycling this little G Plan beauty after picking it up in a charity shop. I will let her tell you more…

I am always taking stuff in but I always come out with something that I have bought (much to my husbands despair!)

This week I went in to have a browse. I have been looking for a small coffee table for a while as ours is just too big for our living room. I saw a table I liked and thought for £7 I could easily paint it and rejuvenate it. It was only when I went to put it into the car that I saw the G Plan sticker on the bottom. I have heard of G Plan and knew it was a great make. Happy me!!!

The top was really marked. I wanted to leave it unpainted if possible but would have to see what happened when I sanded it. I have given it a lot of sanding!!! I can still faintly see some of the marks but I am happy with the look. I then painted the legs with Little Greene French Grey and the bar across with Little Greene Yellow Pink. These are just pots I had in the cupboard and the Yellow Pink is a tester pot. Tester pots are a great way to add little hints of colour.

I am going to oil the top and wax underneath to protect it (essential with 2 boys and a husband around!) and it is done.

Painted G Plan Table

I think it looks AMAZING, it is so funny I had similar plans for mine, mine was white all over when I bought it and I was going to paint the legs pink with a waxed top, but after Ashley sanded mine this week I have found that part of my top has been replaced with MDF – Boo.

So come back and check out my finished table next week, if you are looking for more Painted Furniture inspiration do come follow my board on Pinterest as I am constantly adding more to it.
