GBK Comes to Canterbury!

One of the advantages of working for a Recycling Company is that whenever a store/restaurant refurb or build starts I usually know months before opening.

That’s what happened with GBK Canterbury. As soon as I saw it flash up on my computer screen I let out a large WOOHOO in the office, everyone thought I was going mad when I started explaining how exciting this was going to be. GBK literally have some of the best burgers I have ever tasted and don’t get me started on the Hei Hei Salt (product of the gods).

So I immediately sent them out a tweet saying how over the moon I was and could they let me know as soon as they knew when they would officially open the doors so I could book a babysitter.

Imagine my excitement when they contacted me last month to ask if I wanted to come for the soft launch and put the staff and the burgers to the test, I jumped for joy.

I took along Ashley, my lovely Stepmum, Niece and Nephew as we wanted to say a HUGE thank you for everything they had done when Grayson had had his fall.

The restaurant was the original cinema in Canterbury back in the 20’s in the Art Deco period, I loved how GBK gave the restaurant their usual cool, urban, industrious feel with Cooper lighting, metal seating and fabulous floors, but they very tastefully made shapes of booths Art Deco arches, as well as some truly beautiful sunburst mirror detailing.

The staff was fantastic, really well-trained, knew what was on offer and thankfully had even tested the menu themselves so could genuinely give thoughts. The staff at the ordering bar were polite and made you smile.

GBK Canterbury Review

The food well as with all GBK meals I have had, was amazing, their menu gives so much choice it literally took us 15 minutes to decide, there is something for everyone’s taste, 3 of us had chicken, Ashley had Buffalo and myself I was the only one to go with a traditional burger, our table had 3 styles of chips/fries and the night couldn’t go past without Shakes coming to our table.

Customisation is not a problem at GBK, you want it naked (no bun) you can, extra cheese, no lettuce – not a problem, honestly you can pretty much create your won and they will do it!

GBK Review

I could go on forever telling you of GBK and their food, I have to say my experience was excellent at Canterbury, I was concerned whether the building would be too small but they have done a great job with the layout and we were comfortable not feeling squashed at all.

My only problem is now it being only 15 minutes from my front door it really is not going to be good for the diet but if I am going have a treat GBK is what I want it to be.

*We were invited for a free meal but I was not asked to post about our experience, I just wanted to share with you all.
