6 months in our home and still so many rooms are unfinished, actually every room is unfinished but in varying amounts.

We now live in a 3 story townhouse, if I was to choose a style of home it would not be this, the Living Room being on the middle floor separate from the Kitchen is not ideal. Personally I am all about open plan living, I love the idea of us all being in one room, whether it is me cooking, kids playing, TV watching or even homework, I like a family to be together.

Thankfully our landlords when re designing the house understood that concept, so instead of just having an even bigger Kitchen/Diner they designated an area to be a snug, quite a generous one to as we have our old 3 seater sofa in there.

The snug is still very much a part of the Kitchen so it will style along the same colours, but at the moment it is very much a mish mash of old furniture and junk waiting to be unpacked or has no home.

We have a very small budget to update the area so things like the sofa and furniture need to stay but these are my plans at the moment,  styling with the rainbow of neon/pastels from the kitchen with a kitsch/retro feel.

To be tackled

    • New cover for the sofa, probably a throw, modern print & washable
    • Storage for larger toys, the kids have a small amount down here, as well as their kitchen
    • Rug which can warm the area as tilled, which is easy to keep clean as leads to the garden
    • Update current furniture, G Plan side table and white Ikea drawers

This rug is perfect, from Carpet Right it is cheap, soft under foot and washable, hello designed with kids in mind.
I think the log storage baskets would be a great solution for toys and I decided that I could spray paint them for not looking so boring in the room.
The Blue and White throw I would chuck on the sofa, it can be put in the wash and is cheap enough to replace every few months when the kid ruin it.
I love cushions on a sofa, they always make a room feel cozier, we already have the cherry one but I love the textures and print in the others.
What do you think ? I think it will look colourful whilst being cozy and suitable for the kids. Now to decide how make the drawers look a little more snazzy, maybe some geometric wall stickers, any suggestions ??
