Many of you will know that there is nothing I love more than a Perfect Picnic. There are many a post here about what makes my Perfect Picnic, but my top 5 list is…
Beautiful Setting (Beach preferably)
Yummy Easy To Make Food
Gorgeous Picnic Hamper and Blanket
I think this Beach Date Night Picnic comes close to ticking all the boxes. The only thing missing was that elusive beautiful Picnic Blanket, that shall be my next purchase from the Wayfair Picnic catergory, although the throw I bought form there a few months ago still looked lovely.
So onto the evening in question, as a married couple to three young Children we have to find ways to have Date Nights without breaking the bank. I have spoke before of how we have found them crucial to keeping our marriage happy and I know from talking to many friends they agree.
A beach picnic, or in fact any picnic is the perfect date. It allows you to enjoy some quiet time, chat, laugh and unwind. The food I made all in the day whilst the kids were playing and did not take more than 20 minutes to prepare but if you weren’t even feeling like spending the time you could head to the supermarket on the way to fill your Hamper.
Onto the Hamper, I have quite an obsession with Picnic Hampers. I have had them on my Birthday list for many years but because my Birthday is in December people seem to be put off treating me to one.
Well the lovely people at Wayfair sent me one of the most beautiful and well equipped Hampers I have ever seen. The Sandbanks Willow Hamper has everything you need and more. The cool bag in particular an excellent addition that I had never considered, it kept our Dessert perfectly cool.
The classic Navy and White Striped design and Leather details make it the perfect Hamper for all, not too pretty for the Husband to be seen using and very British looking on the Beach. Although the Hamper is Luxury I think the price tag is very good considering you have everything you need including plates, cutlery and even two little mugs which maybe by day we would fill with Tea but this evening we had a little drop of Wine, well it was Date Night after all.
What did we have for Dinner?
I could have gone down the traditional sandwich and picnic food route and there is plenty of space to fill it with such treats but as it was Date Night I went for something a little different and very tasty.
Fajita Salad Bowls
During the day I simply cooked up some Chicken and Peppers in Fajita Seasoning as well as some rice of your choosing.
Then when we got to the beach I simply served those with some lettuce, cucumber, onions, corn, sour cream, chips and lime.
It took me less than 5 minutes to put together and even less for us to polish off.
Of course no Date Night could go by without dessert so I made some Eton Mess Jam Jars, a great dessert to carry safely on a picnic and a very delicious end to our meal.
It really was a lovely couple of hours, a great escape in the middle of Summer Holiday madness.
I am so impressed with the Picnic Hamper that we have started saving for the family version which My Two Mums shared on their recent picnic, I mean I do sometimes have to take the kids with us after all.
