Having used over 5 different brands of feeding equipment for my other 2 children, I was interested in finally getting to try Tommee Tippee, being a leading brand in the UK.
My 1st impression was how the kit left nothing to chance, everything you would need and possibly need was in the kit.
The Electronic Steraliser, sterilised up to 6 bottles at one time, you simply wash your bottles load them into their clearly marked individual places, add 80ml of water (all TT bottles come with an indication line not to cause any worries when your eyes are struggling to stay open) press the button and within 6 minutes you have 6 bottles available for use.
The bottles can stay sterile for up to 24 hours in the Steraliser, which I found to be a great added benefit, as sometimes I will get the bottles all done in the 10 minutes I have spare but not have a chance to seal them all ready for use, at least this gives me an oppoutunity to not worry and complete the task once I have another spare minute.
The lid also as sterile acts as a great space to safely make the bottles up in without having to worry, all very important for a new babies little immune system.
I love the fact that the set also comes with travel steraliser, I had used a generic brand one before which was so flimsy and hard to use, but the Tommee Tippee one is excellent and I had no worries about burning myself on the water when trying to take from the microwave (as I have the previous brand) – it’s so simple to use it sterilised one bottle in 8 minutes in the microwave, we have stayed in London twice since Deacon was born, once I used with the microwave the second time with Milton as that is also possible, to me this is an invaluable bit of equipment.
We also for our stays away went on to purchase the Travel and Bottle Food Warmer – this allows you to safely heat a Tommee Tippee Bottle in a flask device, I honestly think this should be added to the Starter Kit as it is pretty important need if you are out a whole day with your baby and can be used over and over again with every child.
When out and about I have found the Milk Powder Dispensers brilliant as they fit safely inside the bottle, it’s great as the milk is safe and secure but not taking up extra space in your changing bag and there is no fear of them coming apart and you not having the milk. I also use these at night and have them ready for my 2 night feeds, so that I don’t have to worry about taking the extra time to measure out the scoops when Deacon is crying in the early hours.
I was a little unsure how well the insulated bags would work as I have had some before with my other children and could never rely on them, but I have to say these are pretty good, they have kept a cold bottle chilled on a warm day for over 4 hours and at the weekend I filled Deacon’s bottle with warm pre boiled water ready for a feed before we left the house and 2 hours later the water was still the right temp and all I had to do was add his milk.
All in all I like the set, I think it is great value for money, I like the fact that you get 2 teats for each step up in flow, to be honest I think providing the full 6 would be better but they are easy to purchase even on my food shop, I did find the stage 1 teats very slow and at a month old Deacon has already had to go up to stage 2 which isn’t recommended till 3 months, but then he is a lazy feeder.
As I said above I do think the travel warmer would be a great addition to the set.
